If I place a wood burning stove in my regularly used open fireplace do I still need to line the chimney? - used wood stove for sailboat

A wood stove burns hot enough, so no need for a liner if the chimney is in good shape. A coating is used when a device such as a gas furnace is not burning hot. In this case, condensation collects and corrode the chimney.
